All About Me

My name is Mary and I established, 'Quite Contrary Cakes', in 2010 following the birth of my beautiful daughter, who gave me the courage and confidence to follow my passion for cake decorating.

After creating my daughter's christening cake in York, I decided that the time had come to fulfil my dream and make cakes. I love to bring people's individual ideas to life, creating their very own bespoke cake for that extra special occasion.

 

Having worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and being an Event Manager for many, many weddings and events in Yorkshire, I have seen all shapes and sizes of cakes... and it got me thinking... "I can do that!"

Working alongside brides, event planners and organisers, I have an understanding (and sympathy) with those arranging their special events and know how important attention to detail and professionalism is. Working from my family kitchen allows me to provide a personal service and also be a Mummy.

I enjoy creating cakes from scratch and always get excited to see the finished product, and my client’s reaction to it!
